Coral Spawning
Some lucky divers will be witnessing this year’s Coral Spawning in Curacao, which occurs a few days after the full moon in September and October. You can be one of them! Although nature is unpredictable, this year’s Coral Spawning is set to take place between September 18 and 24, and again between October 17 and 23 2008. During this time, Curacao’s echinoderms, worms, sponges, hard and soft corals reproductive season lure divers below from the afternoon to the evening hours to view how they release their eggs and sperm, which are displayed, when illuminated, as miniature beads of lights.
The dive operations staff conducts special dives during the Coral Spawning weeks. There also tends to be an increased number of fish for the week following the Coral Spawning, so these are among the best times to dive at Habitat Curaçao Resort.
