"To me art is a way of conveying to our children, future generations, and ourselves the importance of looking after our lands and our oceans." - Rogest

Acclaimed marine artist Ron Steven (better known as Rogest) inaugurated Habitat's Art Gallery in July 2004 with an exhibition of his work.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of Rogest’s work benefit the local Curacao Reef Care. http://www.reefcare.org

About the Artist and Paintings

Ron Steven, better known as Rogest, is one of the rare individuals who has made his dreams a reality. Exchanging a business suit for a dive suit, he left the corporate world to pursue his passions. An admirer of Australian dot paintings, he has made the style his own. Ron now travels the world diving and creating brilliant new works from Tahiti, to Papua New Guinea to the Caribbean.

Rogest's vivid works are done in acrylics on large canvases. Each painting captures the essence of the subject as the pictures include sand and seawater from the location.

Rogest's work has been featured on the front covers of Undersea Journal, French Octopus Magazine, Australasia Scuba Diver Magazine and the New Zealand Dive Log, with articles and portfolios of his work featured in magazines in Canada, Australia, Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Holland, USA, France, Russia and Italy. An ardent supporter of the environment, Ron has worked closely with DAN both in the USA and Australia. He has donated his work to O.W.U. Scholarship Society, Conservation International, Ocean Pals, Oceans for Youth Foundation, REEF, Catalina Conservancy Divers, W.W.F., and the Marine Mammal Care Centre in California. At present Ron is raising funds for the Channel Island National Marine Sanctuary. His favorite past time is working with Kids (see Kids Gallery on the website)
