Hiking Trails

The hiking trails near and around Habitat Curacao Resort are perfect for an early morning walk or afternoon hike. You can choose the shorter trail along the coastline or adventure through the longer, yellow trail.
The green trail takes you along Curacao’s beautiful, southwestern rocky coastline, where the surf against rocks procudes waves spraying up to 50 feet (15 meters) against the cliffs. This trail is the easiest, shortest and smoothest of the two, taking one to one-and-a-half hour to complete. You’ll enjoy a beautiful stroll along the coastline, see scrub bushes and some cactus, and encounter lizzards, birds and, if you’re lucky, an iguana.
The yellow trail is longer and more challenging, but a true enjoyment for the young at heart and more adventurous travelers. This trail follows a circular path back to Habitat and takes about two to two-and-a-half hours to complete. You’ll encounter an abundant amount of tall cactus, see aloe vera plants and leafy thorned bushes. Green parrots and other birds, lizzards and iguanas can be spotted along the way. You’ll come across the salt water bay and salt pans, where salt was harvested years ago, and see an old and uninhabited Dutch Plantation house, dating back to 1680, atop a hill overlooking an inland saltwater bay.
As you progress down the yellow trail, make sure to take time and look closely to see the Pink Flamingo Sanctuary. At this point, you can choose to turn back or continue. If you choose to continue, please know that you’ll be going uphill for a bit, but you will be rewarded with incredible, panoramic vistas at the top of the hill. From there, it is downhill and mostly flat near the sea and back to Habitat Curacao Resort.
Mountain bikes can be rented at the Front Desk by those preferring a bike tour.
